So; we have been a tad slack at posting it is because we have been living the dolce vita! Italy well and truely sucked us in.
After Rome we headed south to Sorrento where we stayed in a cute little cabin in a camping ground that was perched on a cliff overlooking the bay of Naples, a great spot for enjoying some local wine and watching the sun go down! From Sorrento we took a day trip down the Almalfi coast to a picture postcard town called Positano where we took a crazy amount of photos and ate some very good pizza! Another day trip took us to Pompeii which was highly impressive = put those ruins in Rome to shame.
From there we caught a flight to Venice and we managed to get through the tourist office's three day itinerary in just one day = we are the speediest walkers! The city was beautiful but so crammed with tourists it was hard work getting around, didn't help we were there on a public holiday. The next day we slowed down the pace and did a bit of shopping, buying a beautiful piece of Murano glass to take home.
Our next stop was Florence, a city neither of us had great expectations of but one we quickly fell for = although far too many annoying American tourists; they say only 4 percent of them own passports and we're sure they were all in Italy! We ended up queuing for 3 hours to get into the Uffuzi gallery, and while it was definitely interesting we just don't think it was worth the wait.
Next time we get a few mins online we'll update you on Cinque Terre = our favourite place on the whole trip!
