Marvellous Munich

Well, it's been a while since we posted, so much to see so little time for writing. I'll break this up into a view posts so it's not too long, but excuse the typos = weird Czech keyboard!

We had a great time for the rest of our visit to Amsterdam. We basically spent our time wandering around the city admiring the scenery. The weather on the Saturday was nice so we checked out Vondelpark and a market. Then on Sunday we had to check out earlier than we thought because of daylight savings time. We stored our bags at the train station as we didn't leave to an overnight train at 8,30pm. The day was freezing, raining and miserable so we checked out some shops and then went to the Rijksmusuem where we fell in love with Rembrandt's paintings.

Our first overnight train experience was pretty good = we were in reclining seats {like a plane} but much more comfy. We slept well until 5am when the German passport officers came around. All of a sudden there were five gloved men how got the young boy in front of us out of his seat and took him off somewhere with all his bags! We were pretty confused... it was quite surreal, especially when they did the same to the couple opposite us! They eventually returned and we figured it must have been a bag search = makes sense on a train from Amsterdam I guess! Glad we weren't dragged off though!

Munich was amazing, we spent the first day exploring the city and admiring old churches, the main square and the incredible gardens. We had lunch at a typical open air market and enjoyed a bratwurst and beer {well coke for me}. After getting advice from an American guy we met in the square we decided not to do a tour to Ludwig's castles and instead head out there ourselves, saving a whole heap of money. The castles were magical especially because there was still lots of snow on the ground. It was quite cold, but bearable and it looked so fitting with the tufts of white on the ground. Definitely worth the trip. Back in Munich that night we went to an old beer hall, complete with oompa musicians and the works for dinner. I even had a massive beer = although it was mixed with lemonade and I still only managed to drink half!
