Our last day in London was a full on walk-fest. On our travels we were passed by a massive motorcade and got a glimpse of the French president and his new wife, who were on a state visit. Very exciting stuff.
We went back and had a better look at Buckingham Palace before walking down to Harrods - everyone was right on the food court - totally incredible! We wish we hadn't just had breakfast cause we would have pigged out. The whole area around Harrods was pretty cool and we were totally picturing ourselves living there till we discovered it would be about 2,000 pounds a week to rent a place there! Maybe a slight bit out of our league.
Our plan was to then catch a bus and check out some more monuments but we couldn't find anywhere to get tickets so we ended up walking to the Royal Albert Hall before finally getting on a tube and heading to Notting Hill. We then made our way (by a very very long bus trip) to Camden market where we both bought scarves. The market is like what Victoria Park Market would be if it was ten million times cooler and about 10 times the size. Despite our aching legs we figured we'd head back to the Tower Bridge which we'd missed yesterday but after walking over that we were stuffed and couldn't manage another site!
We were pretty sad to leave London but it's good knowing we'll be back in June. At 6am we headed out to Luton airport (another very long bus ride!) and caught a plane for the very short, 40 min, flight to Amsterdam.
This city pretty much blew us away from the moment we stepped out of the sprawling central train station (a train we'd accidentally travelled on in first class instead of second - oops!). Amsterdam really is like nothing else. The buildings are so beautiful and there are canals at every turn. We can't get over how quiet the city is as there are hardly any cars - but millions of bikes!
Our hotel (which gave us a free upgrade to room with its own bathroom - yay for not having to share!) is nice and centrally located and we have been walking everywhere. Walking would be even more enjoyable if it wasn't so freezing! The wind in this place is artic and yesterday we had to deal with rain as well (luckily today is a gorgeous blue skied day!). Everywhere you go there is the aroma of weed and every second shop is a "coffee house", but there are also lots of great cafes and restaurants and we've finally had a decent coffee (those Brits just haven't mastered coffee making!). It's quite weird for us that people can smoke inside anywhere, it's been such a long time since we've been around people smoking inside restaurants etc.
Last night we braved the weather and visited Anne Frank's house - it was definitely a sobering experience, but very good to see up close and realise just how real it all was.
Anyway, enough rambling from us! Our next stop is Munich so we'll update you from there...

Hi Guys, I'm so glad you are having such a great time.
Your parents are having probs with their internet connection but I will make sure they get the updates until the are sorted.
Ummm...if you see any hat shops would you take a photo for me ? I need to steakl some European chic.
